What happened to Dr. Dobb's Journal?

I finally got to look over Issue No. 407 (April 2008) and it just occured to me that this month's copy is the slimist (is there such a word? if not, let me know so I can replace this with (sic)) copy I ever recall receiving. What is going on? Not as many advertisements? Not as many articles? I feel a sense of concern that my field is disappearing and I am sitting around waiting for the pink slip. On the other hand I can actually read all the articles. I always read the Editor's page since it was in many cases the only article I could get through without saying "huh?" Now that may be admitting how much of a so-so mind I have but I do enjoy trying to get better at all this. I am going to try to finish today's copy and report back the most interesting articles I can complete and actually understand.

Happy New Year

So here I am starting 2008. I only have one New Years Resolution: Being Honest!
I would like to make a list, one of things I am dealing with and one of things I do well.

Things I am dealing with:
1. Menopause
2. Not being able to concentrate for long periods of time
3. Not being to complete tasks. I have had five things on my list since....(let me look it up) Mid-November. I have only managed to complete one.

Things I am most proud of:
1. Teaching well this last semester.
2. Working on my notes on creating PONG for students learning to program in C++. I have over 100 pages.
3. My relationship with Samantha.
4. Playing Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.

Who am I? A woman in love with Samantha. A programmer. Someone with more books on her todo list than is humanly possible to read.

I realized some time last year that I will not be able to read all the books I want before I kick the bucket. The fact is, my job and 'other' interests take way too much time. But, that does not mean that I don't fret and feel frustrated by that fact.

Goals for today: Reading more of the Eclipse book. I am going to see if I can get CVSNT to work on my Vista machine (trembling here).

Happy New Year.
